Meet Mohammed Nourbakhsh - Skylab’s very own vice-president of Engineering! As a leader on our Machine Learning Team, he is at the forefront of innovation and shaping the future of photo editing through the power of AI (read: Skylab Studio.

Get to know Mohammed!

After completing his Masters in Computer Science at Simon Fraser University, Mohammed joined the Skylab team in November of 2020 as a Machine Learning Engineer. In April 2022, he was promoted to VP of Engineering!

What inspired you to pursue a career in STEM?

My fascination with technology and the incredible possibilities it offers drew me to STEM. I became captivated by the idea of creating intelligent systems that understand the visual world during my studies in Computer Science.

What excites you the most about working at Skylab?

The most exciting part of working at Skylab is the environment - it fosters innovation and collaboration where I have the privilege of working with a talented team that is always pushing the boundaries of machine learning and AI. It's genuinely exciting and motivating.

Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to pursue a career in this field?

Sure! For STEM hopefuls, I suggest fostering curiosity, embracing lifelong learning, collaborating with peers, hands-on project experience, networking for opportunities, and adapting in the ever-changing tech world. These have been invaluable in my own journey.
